Joana Vasconcelos

True Faith, 2014- I came across this wall sculpture a bit longer then a year ago in the Manchester Gallery, in the classical area of the gallery. To me I believe that is what made it appeal to me, how it stood out amongst all the portraits which stood around it. The sculpture pushes away from the wall and seems more like a window to another universe. The way the material spreads over the frame gave me the impression that it is squeezing out of a painting which once existed. These blood cell forms are the galleries energy squeezing out of the walls, pushing these unreal forms which invade the space and art around it.
