Nathan Hylden

Untitled, 2011- Acrylic on aluminium.

Nathan Hylens sequence paintings show the event of a step ladder reflecting on to a canvas and leaving its mark through the process of the objects changing shadow. Leaving a print, like a cynotype on the canvas it reflects on to. At first the canvases are bare and seem to emerge in to the walls, after observimg you start to see the marks of Nathan Hylden processes. His work involves screen printing you can see the activity of his marks, brush strokes over the aluminium to the tape marks of something which might of once layed on top. These urban pieces are like mirrors, reflecting and documenting the objects which past it. These pieces come across as continuous, although the image is static you feel the image and marks will change over time.
