Eva Hesse

Expanded Expansion,1969

Fiberglass, polyester resin, latex, and cheesecloth

Eva Hesse manipulates her material, she twists, fold, hangs, layers and congeals her work to create these mistreated abstract works. The piece Expanded Expansion looks like a barrier of skin. It comes across like conjoined bodies which have been stretched out to dry but they still have this tainted brown colour of mistreated meat. Hesse’ work comes across as helpless, lying against the wall left to disintegrate.
