Giuseppe Gabellone wall pieces were sculpted and cast in a plastic resin which gives them an artificial texture and a child like look which takes the sculptural wall pieces away from the perception of manual labour. The use of one bright colour and the sharp curves which come across to me like it’s just gone through mince machine or play dough pattern shows this manufacturing aspect, a continuous loop of material. While facing the wall pieces you are surrounded by long spread out material which acts as barrier restricting your movement, making you consider the steps you take. You are surrounded by this material and slowly drift in to this surreal environment where the abstract forms over take the space. The room is surrounded by movement, the waves in the wall sculptures and the folds amongst the large sheets, the environment ends up feeling like it’s moving, it becomes a space in between present and past.
